Electrical noise is a constant source of annoyance to electrophysiologists. It is feasible to reduce the noise on a patch-clamp electrophysiology rig to a level where single-molecule activity can be recorded with microsecond resolution. The amount of reduction necessary will depend on upon the experiment but using the techniques below it is. So the Superfuzz creates the unwanted noise. How will i get the MXR noise clamp in? Like the GT10 already uses my amps send and return, but only the fuzz creates the noise. I'm confused as to how you even 'loop' up the noise clamp. Not to mention my pedalboard is large am i going to have to get extra long patch leads to trace back and forth??

Reduce Noise Patch Clamp
RAD
David: *plays secret chord*
The LORD: NICE
If you want your secret chords to be heard with clarity & without a bunch of added noise & hum then I recommend this guy. It's very easy to use (just one knob) & it's got a pretty blue light to show you that it's on.Correct Way To Use This Pedal
Here's the thing: you can (and should) put your preamp in the pedal's loop. It's tracking the signal directly from the guitar in this application so you can leave the gate on even when you are playing on your amp's clean channel. It's very counterintuitive to me as I have always ran a gate in-line after dirt pedals or as the first pedal coming out of the amp's loop. Tryi it like this: guitar to noise clamp input, noise clamp send to your overdrive(s), overdrives to amp input, amp effects send to noise clamp return, noise clamp out to whatever pedals you typically have in your amp's loop (modulation, delay, reverb), last pedal in chain to amp effects return. I know, I know, it's the weirdest thing I'd heard of too, and I still can't figure out how/why it works, but that IS in fact the correct way to run it. If you play in an application where you run into a clean amp and use dirt pedals to create a second/third channel so to speak, you will find you can turn your dirt off and not gave to tap dance to your gate, just leave it on, because it's tracking the signal straight from the guitar. You will find that you can have the gate threshold on like 7:00 or 8:00 o'clock, no kidding. You can turn on the sickest of high gain pedals like this and still have it quiet as a mouse pissin on cotton when you stop, BECAUSE ITS TRACKING THE SIGNAL FROM THE GUITAR. In this application though it is best to use through an amp with a lot of clean headroom because if you have to roll your volume knob down considerably to achieve your clean tone, THEN you may start to gate off the sustained clean notes. This may be even more so the case with single coils. I guess you only have to turn the pedal off if you intend to play a passage where you roll the volume knob off. If yoo roll the volume knob off a lot when you play, you could always try putting the gate after an 'always on' pedal that you place in front of the amp, then proceed to put the amp's preamp in the pedal's loop in the way I described earlier. Long winded, yes, but only trying to be helpful. I use this pedal in the way I described and wonder why I struggled for years trying to find a 'sweet spot' on a gate's threshold when running it post-dirt in the usual manner. This KILLS. Problem solved. MXR owns. Try the Sugar Drive if you dig a nice, warm, organic medium/high gain drive.
MXR M195 Noise Clamp Noise Gate!
If ya run live and hot tubes!... you NEED THIS PEDAL!!!...DNT GIG WITHOUT IT!!!...it definitely will do you justice! and don't buy from any other gear supplier but sweetwater!...you'll thank me in the long run!
Works Like A Champ
No need for a lot of words here. I put it on my board and now the noise is gone. Just be sure to use the 4 cable method. Solidly built. I would buy another if it was stolen. If you use a lot of higher gain tones, you gotta have this.
MXR Noise Clamp
It works very good. Just as advertised. Clamps down the noise like a gate.
Awesome!
This is really great for eliminating noise from your setup- only 4.5 because the first one stopped working and got a replacement. So far, so good! Really makes a difference...
It just works
I have had this pedal for about six months now and love it. I recently added a programmable loop switcher to my setup and it took a minute to figure out how to incorporate the Noise clamp into my new setup, but now that it is figured out, I am back in business. I like being able to just put the noise makers inline, and leave the time based effects outside of it (delay, 'verb).
Keep in mind that this is a gate, and if it is set too high it WILL cut off the tails of your notes, so there is a sweet spot to find with this unit. But once found, the noise clamp does its thing and does it well. I wouldn't gig without it.Nice, when used correctly
This works perfect when used as intended. In my opinion this should only be used with amps without an effects loop, and only when the noise is coming from your pedals- it will not quiet a noisy amp. I use this in front of my Marshall DSL15c with a TS808dx pro with the overdrive and boost on and an eq pedal in the noise clamp loop. It kills all noise when I'm not playing- and tracks as well if not better than my ISP decimator due to getting it's signal direct from the guitar. That being said, on all my other amps with an effects loop I do find the decimator to be the best. But if all your pedals are going into the front end of your amp, this will do the trick.
Better than BOSS, but ISP is better
I bought this to replace the ISP G-string because it weighs much less and has a smaller foot print.
Unfortunately, this pedal is not as good as the online videos make it look. It's easy to perform well when there's only one other pedal in the chain, but if you have multiple - as most people do - then it's an average performer.
Though the MXR did clamp down, it didn't filter the noise out while playing. The hum that was dominant when the pedal was turned of was also heard as I played with the pedal on. So what's the use of having a 'clean' loop if it doesn't filter the noise while you play. The ISP is much better at cleaning up the sound without changing the tone.
A good pedal for the money, but could still use a little improvement.Decent pedal.
Got this for my brothers amp, we tested it against my ISP G-string and the gate was much more sudden and 'CLAMP' like... it didnt have a slow attack or release feel to it more of just an on or off thing. i also noticed this pedal dosent clean up ALL of the noise and hum. it clears up most, if not all of the preamp buzz or hiss, but there was still a noise floor hum that it did not get rid of while the G-string did. not a bad pedal for the price but if i had to compare it against the NS-2 or the g-string i would have to say the ISP comes out on top.
