I'm going to be very blunt: I have watched over 100 Anime('s?), and have 100% around 15-20 VN's, but I don't think any other soundtrack holds a candle to Clannad's. I mean, I love Yuki Kajiura, who did soundtracks for shows such as Kara No Kyoukai and Fate/Zero, and Hiroyuki Sawano, who composed for shows such as Guilty Crown. I hear about them quite a lot, but never about Shinji Orito, Jun Maeda, or Magome Togoshi, the three people who compose everything for Key.

But the thing is, I love every piece of music in Clannad. There isn't a single one I don't like. I think it's the only VN and/or Anime where I can listen to the whole OST without skipping any songs. It's just that good to me. None of the songs are completely overpowering either; there's no pieces that are overly complex or stand out. But that makes me like it even more. A piece doesn't need to have a gigantic orchestra or symphony to be good, and the song that most people love the most from the show - Dango Daikazoku/Nagisa's theme - is actually a very simple song.
And that brings me to what I like most: every song belongs, and I can relate a memory to each one. Nagisa's theme has a nice melody, but no one would like it as much as they do if it didn't bring back memories, didn't evoke emotions. It's because it was played where it was played that everyone does. I might have some bias, as I played the VN first, but any song that I can hear brings back such strong emotions. and one that only the VN people might have connected emotion to is Shio. I only bring this up because it's such a simple song, nothing stand-out, but it is the song that plays on the title screen of Clannad. I don't know about anyone else, but after I completed a route (or failed at one), and after the credits rolled, this would play. And every time it played, that's when I knew it was over, and everything would hit me at once, as if to wake me up.

I don't know, maybe I'm just being a fanboy, or maybe this just shows how great Clannad is, and not the OST, for making me be able to connect such strong memories and emotions to them, but to me there is no other soundtrack greater than Clannad's. I love it and I wouldn't rather it any way. If someone here hasn't listened to the whole soundtrack, I strongly recommend to do so. See how many things you can remember, how many feelings that will rush back to you. I apologize for the length of this, but I couldn't shorten it no matter how much I tried.
But if you made it this far, I can only thank you for reading this rather lengthy rant on my feeling of the OST. And for anyone who hasn't finished Clannad and Clannad After Story, I want to say one thing: if you think it's boring, and are debating whether to continue or not, please do, you won't regret it. And for those who feel like they can't continue, like they hit an emotional roadblock: you can get through this. I believe in you. It will be hard, but you can do it.

FEELS!!!!! In the best way possible!
If you're a fan of Key's visual novel and or anime adaptation, this is a must have. I Could never find it on itunes before today, so I hunted down the CD...which took ages. My recomendation is everything on the OST. Its absolutely fantastic! Theres one track in particular Id like to name, and thats 'The Place Where Wishes Come True II'. If you're ever in a rut, or just want to mellow out a bit, take a listen. There are no bad tracks I can list, and usually I find bad tracks in anime OST's all the time. This one is different. The scoring is flawless, and matches the tone set in the story perfectly! Anyway, in short, if you have the 15 bucks to drop...do it on this. You'll be happy you did so.
